Disclaimer: Gundam Wing and its characters belong to Bandai, Sunrise and Sotsu Agency and are only being used for non-profit entertainment purposes. References to printed texts, films, sitcoms, musical pieces, and/or other fanfictions don't belong to the author either. Original Characters, including but not limited too, the Berh Siblings, Jake Mazzolla and "the chibis", are original and hence, the author's own creation.
Notes: This is the story of the children, the nine children of the 6 gundam pilots (Heero--Zechs) plus the grandchild of Treize Khushrenada. This story will not focus primarily on the characters from the series, but rather, the generation after them. This story is not for all die-hard fans, but runs along the lines of a more original piece.
Additional Note: 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 often times refer to each other as "husband"; please refer back to "Promise of the Rings" Part 15 if this causes confusion.
Additional Note 2: The chibis often times refer to their parents' friends and partners as "Uncle" or "Aunt"--in this case, the term is used simply as one of respect since, with the exception of Kit & Adrian's relation to Relena and all of Quatre's sisters, none of the parents have siblings.

Heirs to the Legacy I by Andrea Readwolf

Part Twenty-Seven

~ October AC 227~

Katarynna Peacecraft looked out the window with annoyance. Ugh, raining. Again. She scrubbed tired blue eyes with her fingers and tried to make the screen before her focus.

"Ooh, that looks like fun. So much it's actually putting you to sleep."

Kit scowled at the grinning voice, a yawn ruining the effect. "What brings you down to headquarters, Try?" she managed to ask after the yawn's desist.

"I was in town," the young blond man smiled, shrugged his shoulder as he sat—without permission—on the corner of her desk. "Figured I'd drop in and say hello to people."

"Anne isn't in today," Kit informed him. "She and Sally said something about taking Julian out."

One blond brow quirked. " 'Anne'? 'Sally'? What's this? What happened to the 'aunt' part?"

The dark haired beauty in front of him lifted a shoulder in a half-shrug. "We aren't really related, you know."

"If you say so."

Crystalline blue eyes narrowed with intense focus on him. "You're in a remarkably good mood today, Triton Winner. What secret are you keeping?" Kit accused.

The blond just laughed. "That's for me to know.... And you to find out, if you care to." She looked at him, amused interest washing her facial features. "Can you leave already, or are they planning on keeping you here all night?"

Kit glanced at the clock on her computer screen, noting the hour. "Oh, I suppose I could leave. Why? What did you have in mind?"

"Trust me?"

"About as far as I can throw you."

"Good. Grab your coat and c'mon."

~ Whispering Pines~

He lined it up and shot, firing the large orange ball into the hoop with an easy swish of the net. The ball bounced back towards him, like a faithful puppy, and he laid up another shot. The kitchen door banged open and shut as the basketball fell through the net once again.

Bounce.

Bounce.

Bounce.

Bounce.

Lay up, shot.

Swish.

Bounce.

Bounce.

Duo snatched up the ball before it could return to Dylan's hands, twisted, and shot the orange sphere back into the hoop. A mock game began then, neither one really bothering to keep score as father and son faced off.

"Gonna tell me what's bothering you?" Duo asked as he stole the ball and tried to score again.

Dylan knocked it away from its goal. "Nothing."

"Uh huh." Yeah right, the longhaired man added silently.

The game intensified for a full 10 minutes without father or son trying for conversation. Then Duo grabbed Dylan instead of the ball, pulling the boy to him and hugging the daylights out of the kid. It was a moment before Dylan responded, returning his father's embrace.

"You know I love you, right?"

"Yeah, I know."

Dylan pulled away and snatched up the ball.

"So... I hear you're gonna be moving back to Emerald Gardens now that the girls are gone."

Duo sighed, feeling only a little better now that he at least had some idea about what was bothering his son. "They're not gone yet, you know," he quipped, stealing the ball back. "It was suggested, but nothing's been decided."

"I guess it would make sense," Dylan went on, feinting right, before darting left. "With everyone leaving and all."

"I guess," Duo replied noncommittingly. "But this place has been home for 20 years. Not easy to just up and leave all that."

"No, I guess not."

Bounce.

Bounce.

Duck.

Shot.

Score.

"Hungry?"

"A little."

Dylan's stomach announced its opinion and the boy grinned sheepishly up at his grinning father.

"Pizza?"

"With chicken wings?"

"Sounds good."

"I'll go make the call."

Outtake

"What brings you down to headquarters, Try?" Kit managed to ask after the yawn's desist.

"Well, I was hoping today would be the day you'd agree to have mad, passionate, sex with me," the blond young man said leaning closer to her.

"No, I don't think so."

"Oh well, how 'bout dinner then?"

"Sure. Steak House?"

"How's the Olive Garden sound to you?"

Bounce.

Bounce.

Bounce.

Bounce.

"Gonna tell me what's bothering you?" Duo asked as he stole the ball and tried to score again.

Dylan sighed. "Well, it's like this, Dad. I'm kinda worried Uncle Quatre's gonna find out about me and Callie."

Duo was so taken back that Dylan had no trouble stealing the ball and scoring.

"You know, he went all ZERO on Mara J and Tristan, and I just don't think I want to deal with in-laws like that, you know?"

Duo: ~___~'' Nevermind. It would probably be safer for my health if I didn't know. I don't wanna know.
