Part Nine: Pumpkin Carving

Tradition #9: Pumpkin Carving 212 AC

"This is a nice one," Noin called out, hefting the medium sized orange pumpkin up for the others to see.

"That's too small, mom," Adrian protested.

"And the color's off," her husband added, eyeing the oversized squash critically.

"O.Kay." She replaced the pumpkin, brushing off her hands.

"How 'bout this one?" Kit asked, randomly pointing out one.

"Too skinny," her brother answered.

"Here's one-"

It took nearly 40 minutes until the younger and elder Peacecraft had declared the finding of the perfect pumpkin. When they got it home, they placed it down at the center of the newspaper-covered table like a glorious possession to be displayed.

"Knife."

Noin obediently handed her husband the large carving knife before excusing herself from the room.

Ten minutes later, hiding out in the master bathroom, avocado mask on with slices of cucumbers over her eyes, relaxing in the spa-sized bath tub, she heard, "Ewe! That's *gross*!" Shortly followed by, "AAAAAAHH!!! MO~OM!!! ADRIAN JUST SHOVED PUMPKIN GUTS DOWN MY SHIRT!!!"

"MY *HAND* SLIPPED!" her son cried back, sending the two into a shouting match.

"And this is the future of the world," Lucrezia Noin mused before slipping under the warm water.
