Part Five: Halloween Parties

Tradition #5: Halloween Parties 204AC

"You're sure you'll be okay?" the concerned Maleficent asked, smoothing a cool hand over her daughter's forehead and cheek.

"Mo~om," Mariemeia Khushrenada Une moaned, pulling away from her mother just as her boyfriend rounded the corner, his arms full of a wiggling, giggling, 9-year old boy. "We'll be fine. Honest."

"Don't worry, Mrs. Une, I mean, Lady Une," Jake said, dropping Matthew Braddocks back onto his feet. "I think me and Marie can handle 5 rug rats."

"And Mike can help us," the redhead pointed out. "Trinity and Adrian are already asleep, and Kit will run around and drop dead in an hour; two tops." Before she could go on, the rest of the party poured into the room. All eyes turned to the very pregnant man whose bulging frame was effectively masked by the multitudes of clothes layered over him. The Arabian sheik at his side was nervously twisting a helpless piece of cloth in his hands.

"Maybe you shouldn't go," Quatre was saying.

"Will you calm down," Trowa. well, snapped. "I'm fine."

"Yes, but the media-"

"You just let *us* worry about the media, Q-man," a scantily dressed loose-haired, long-haired glittery, violet-eyed, red-clad with a red-glittered top hat young man replied.

"Yeah," Jake smirked, coming up beside Marie. "They'll see Duo decked out like that and all run away screaming."

The longhaired man pouted. "Don't you like my costume?"

"Um, Duo?" Marie began, trying to calm the fire in her cheeks. "Don't you think those shorts are just a *little* *too* short?"

"Child, avert your eyes," Wufei said immediately as he noticed *where* she was looking.

"Um, yes," Lady Une piped up, having to draw her eyes away from the scene her daughter pointed out. "Perhaps we should leave? Zechs and Noin are already out in the car."

"Yes," her daughter practically shouted. "Go. Have fun."

"We will!" Duo sang back and the coffee-haired sheriff marshaled him out the door.

"We'll be home late," Wufei warned.

"We won't wait up for you," Jake assured.
