Part Four: Picking Out Costumes

Tradition #4: Picking out costumes

"But I don't *like* it," the dark-haired girl pouted angrily, stomping her foot for good measure and crossing her arms over her chest as she'd seen her fathers do when they were angry.

Duo repressed a sigh, the hand holding out the princess dress dropping to his side. "Mara Jade." he began wheedling.

The girl child would have none of it and furiously shook her head, stirring up her dark curls, flying about her stubborn-set face.

"Here," Wufei announced, returning from the forest of costumes and shoving a bag at the girl. "Try this on, Mara Jade."

"What is it?" she asked, suspicion narrowing her dark eyes."

"Just try it on," her father answered testily, turning her around and shoving the child back into a dressing room.

"What do you think?" an excited voice asked from behind the pair. Duo whistled; Wufei humphfed.

"Pretty as a picture, Trini-baby," Duo gave his opinion, pirouetting his princess-clad daughter.

Trinity giggled. "Royalty must be in my blood, don't you think?"

"I suppose so," Wufei answered. "Is that what you're getting?" At the girl' s shining ascent he motioned her back towards her dressing room. "Fine. Go and get dressed." As soon as she was away he turned to Duo, glaring. "*Next year*, none of this 'let's be normal and buy our costumes from a store' crap," he gruffed. "We use Quatre's costume designer and that's *final*."

Duo smiled at his husband, hugging the grumpy Chinese man. "Auh, c'mon, 'Fei. You know you're having fun."
