Part 3: Hiding Easter Eggs

April 210 AC

"Geesh, Q-man! How many eggs did you guys *make*?" thirty-year old Duo Maxwell complained, hefting one of the large colorful baskets filled to the rim with multi-colored hard-boiled dyed eggs.

"Don't complain," Wufei told his longhaired husband, playfully backhanding the man's belly. "You need the exercise."

"I prefer to get my exercise in the bedroom, thank you very much," Duo quipped, wiggling his rear end and throwing a *look* over his shoulder to the Chinese man.

"Only a hundred and fifty," Quatre replied, pulling another basket out of the truck and holding it up for someone to grab. He looked back at Trowa, who had reached for the basket, with a worried frown. "You should be resting," he told his husband, not relinquishing the basket.

Trowa offered a small smile. "I'm fine, Quatre. We both are. I promise I will not overexert myself." When Quatre still refused to let go of the basket, Trowa leaned over and kissed the blond man's forehead. "Don't worry, mi amour."

A small smile over took his frown. "Mon amour..."

Behind the two, a groan sounded. "Oh no... they're starting it again... Quick! Heero! *DO* something!"

"Hn." Heero stepped in between the two, taking the basket from their slack hands. "Hide now, play later," he told the two, handing the basket to Wufei.

"Ooh! Time for some hide 'n seek, eh?" Duo gleamed. "You coming, Hee-chan?" he called, starting off for the edge of the small woods behind Bridgelight.

Heero gave his lover a predatory look--one the braided man missed. "No," he said after a deliberate moment. "You and Fei go along. I'll stay with these two."

Duo paused on the edge of the wood, turning to stare at his husband with a pouty frown. "Wha-at?" he whined, walking back. He locked his wrists behind Heero's neck, leaning up close. "Sure?" he asked teasingly, a hair's breath away from Heero's face.

At the Japanese man's nod, Duo shrugged, leaned up to give him a quick kiss before pulling away to join Wufei. "Okay. It's your choice after all. Don't have too much fun without us! Oh! And don't wait up!" He winked back at the trio, grabbing Wufei's hand. "C'mon Fei!"

The two disappeared into the woods' shadows.

"You don't have to babysit us," Quatre said, watching the two men blended with the trees around them.

Heero turned away from the woods, holding the blond with a look. "If I intended to babysit tonight, I would have stayed at Bridgelight with the kids," he told him.

"We should get these eggs hidden," Trowa interjected, splitting the heated tension stretching between Quatre and Heero.

A smile teased Heero's lips. "Hai," he replied, taking up his baskets and heading for another section of the woods. He looked behind him over his shoulder. "Coming?"

In the small woods behind Bridgelight, on the ground laying out in the open, at the bases of trees, and snuggled within branches of bushes--all throughout the tiny woods, brightly dyed eggs were set out, ready and waiting, in eager anticipation for the forthcoming day of Easter.
